The Knox County Board of Education discussed Monday evening what the future may hold for the former Carter Elementary school, including the option to demolish the site or allow the Boys and Girls Club to renovate it.
The board will vote Wednesday. If they approve the recommendation, they are giving the go ahead to begin demolition, but the superintendent will be able to cancel or delay demolition if he decides to move forward with the Boys and Girls Club.
He said talks are in the early stages."They've seen the facility, they understand in terms of investment to get it to a place where it is a viable facility for a Boys and Girls Club and they also understand the urgency of the time frame," said Dr. McIntyre.
