The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating after a trooper and another vehicle parked alongside the interstate were hit by another vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Bill Miller with THP, Trooper Adam Bowman pulled a car over for a traffic stop on I-40 eastbound at mile marker 399, just past the Strawberry Plains exit They were parked on the left median of the interstate when a passing vehicle slammed into them.

Trooper Bowman said he is not not injured, but we have no reports about the conditions of the other people involved in the accident.

Right now, the left and center lane of I-40E is closed near the accident, which was reported at 1:40 pm. The lanes will likely remain blocked more a couple of hours, so traffic issues are expected.
