(WBIR-Knoxville) A spokesman with the Knoxville Police Department released the names of two people who were shot Sunday evening in east Knoxville on Brooks Avenue.

Spokesman Darrell DeBusk says both received injuries that are not life-threatening.

Gary Tate, 37-years-old, of Brooks Avenue was shot in the arm and chest.

A bullet grazed 58-year-old Julia Rice's stomach. She also lives on Brooks Avenue.

Police are still investigating the shooting.

(WBIR) Knoxville authorities are investigating a shooting Sunday evening that sent two people to the hospital.

Knoxville Police said officers responded a little before 9 p.m. to the 2100 block of Brooks Avenue to investigate a call of a possible shooting.

Officers arrived and found two people who had been hit by gunfire.

Rural Metro took the two victims to UT Medical Center.

KPD says the victims injuries appeared to be non life-threatening. Forensic technicians responded to the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
