(WBIR-East Knox County) Visitors to the Knoxville Center can learn more about the sun at a free exhibit.

The University of Tennessee's new solar farm exhibit helps teach ways the sun creates power. The exhibit, called SPECTRUM, uses interactive activities.

UT has designed SPECTRUM with helping children understand solar energy technology in mind.

"Just getting them to understand some of the benefits and to perhaps excite them to enter a STEM career in which they can help solve tomorrow's energy problems," said John Hopkins, UT Director of Strategic Operations.

SPECTRUM exhibit will be on display at Knoxville Center before being moved to its permanent home at the West Tennessee Solar Farm.It's located on the second floor near the JC Penny Entrance.

Exhibit hours are Tuesday-Friday: 1-6 p.m. and Saturday: 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
