Students at Sarah Moore Greene Magnet Academy got to show off some of their hard work Thursday when the school hosted a Literary Spectacular.

Students studying media and communications showed off some of their skills, and second grade students performed a musical program.

Teachers say a love of learning is important for students to grasp, because they'll carry it with them throughout life.

"The love of reading and writing is the foundation that helps you be successful not only in reading and writing but as well as in math, science and social studies that kinda goes with you," said Assistant Principal Jessica Stafford.

Author Michael Shoulders also spoke to the assembly. He wrote the children's book "T is for Titanic: A Titanic Alphabet."
