(WBIR-Morristown) It looks like it will be longer before we'll learn what the future has in place for the former Morristown College site.
Built in the 1880s, thousands of people walked through the halls of that campus, before it closed in the 1990s.
According to Morristown Mayor Danny Thomas, there have been possible plans for a while for possible redevelopment. However, 10News has learned those plans will not happen right now.
Residents nearby said there have been problems along the area for sometime, because of these empty buildings. They say they see drug use, vandalism, and small fires on the properties. Two fires have been discovered there in the last five years.
"We're going to deal with it for quite a while I mighty afraid. It don't look like, as you say, the light at the end of the tunnel -- I'm waiting on it," said resident Barbara Stubblefield.
Mayor Thomas says this is not going to bring these plans -- as he put it -- "back to square one." He said there is possible other development there in the future.
