The Hamblen County Sheriff's Department arrested Bean Station resident Dennis Wayne Laskey, 48, in connection to a fire at the home of his ex-wife on Valentine's Day February 14th.

According to HCSD, Laskey threw a beer bottle at the home at around 11 pm with his ex-wife and her current boyfriend. The bottle was filled with flammable liquid and a sock lit on fire as a wick.

His ex-wife was awake when the fire started and when she smelled smoke, authorities say she and her boyfriend were able to escape safely.

Emergency crews were able to put out the fire quickly, and the home suffered only minor damage.

When that failed, Laskey assaulted his ex-wife the next day. He was arrested on domestic violence charges, but bonded out of jail.
