An unusually tough East Tennessee weather has students in Cocke County working to make up snow days.

Cocke County only had five snow days built into their calendar. They've missed at least 16 days so far this winter.

So how are they making up the days?

The school already changed three teacher in-service days to instructional days, on February 17, March 17, and April 21. They have also added 15 minutes to every school day through May 9, and extended the end of school by five days.

Now, they will have to go to class on a Saturday. Students will go to school on April 26 to make up for missing school on March 25.

If they miss any more days, they'll start losing their Spring Break, which is scheduled for April 14-18, starting with that Monday.

The last day of school will be May 30.
