(WBIR) Four teenagers charged in a Greene County murder are expected to make their first court appearance Monday.
Greene County prosecutors have charged Zach Blanchard, 16, with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his father, Robert Blanchard.
Officials arrested Blanchard in Newberry County, S.C., along with three other teens: 15-year-old Liam Lawler; 15-year-old Daniel Richards-Birchfield; 16-year-old Shelby Riley. Lawler, Richards-Birchfield and Riley are facing charges for theft and accessory after the fact in connection to Blanchard's murder.
Greene County Sheriff Burns said Robert J. Blanchard, 36, was shot and killed in his home on Snapps Ferry Road in Greeneville. Deputies found his body Wednesday at 11 p.m.
The four teenagers escaped to South Carolina after the murder. A South Carolina state trooper spotted the teens traveling in a van the morning after Robert Blanchard's body was found, prompting a car chase through Newberry S.C. A Newberry deputy spiked the van's tires, but the teens managed to run out of the vehicle and into the woods where they were arrested later that day.
Investigators said they don't have a motive for the killing.
