Water was pouring into an East Tennessee department store Tuesday afternoon when a drainage pipe was damaged.
According to the manager at the Belk at College Square Mall in Morristown, something happened to the pipe around 4:00 pm, while it was raining outside, and water started pouring through the ceiling.
About 20 to 25 ceiling tiles fell along with the gushing water, soaking the merchandise and carpet below. The manager said the ceiling tiles and pipes will all have to be replaced.
The store is currently closed. There's no word on when the store will reopen. With more rain in the forecast, the manager was concerned about further damage.
He said he thought a couple of other stores in the mall were having some water problems, but he didn't think the damage was as severe.
