(WBIR) A metal pole impaled a 24-year-old man during a single-car crash in Morristown.
Gerald C. Bryan of Morristown died in surgery Wednesday.
Bryan's Toyota Corolla ran off Fish Hatchery Road near the intersection of interstate 81 at about 1 a.m. Wednesday. The car then went down an embankment and into a field, before hitting a metal pole. The pole went through Bryan's chest and into the seat of the car.
The trooper said crews took Bryan to a hospital where he died while in surgery.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol crash report indicated that alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
