More than a hundred marijuana plants went up in smoke Thursday in Hamblen County.

The sheriff's department worked with the Governor's Task Force/ Marijuana Eradication Unit to search for marijuana grows from the air.

Officers in a helicopter spotted the large marijuana patch along the Hamblen and Greene County line in the Fish Hatchery Road area.

According to the Governor's Task Force, Hamblen County is consistently ranked third in the country for the highest number of marijuana plants seized.

According to a press released from the sheriff's department, "Officers will continue to aggressively conduct these operations in an attempt to locate and destroy marijuana growing operations."
