(WBIR, Lenoir City) - A local sheriff's office received some much needed equipment Thursday morning.

Firehouse Subs donated six AED's and 50 first aid kits to the Roane County Sheriff's Office.

It's part of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation which provides funding and life-saving equipment to first responders.

The captain with the Roane County Sheriff's Office says with this donation every supervisor will have an AED in their car.

"Most of the time we are first on scene to those calls prior to EMS arrival, so it's going to give us an advantage to help folks who are in distress. We were also able to put the first aid kit into every car in our patrol division," said Tim Hawn, Captain with the Roane County Sheriff's Office.

This program is possible through donations at Firehouse Subs. They sell recycled five gallon pickle buckets for $2 in the stores, and that money goes towards initiatives like this one.
