(WBIR-Alcoa, Tn) The parents of a baby girl who was shot and killed while they were arguing have pleaded guilty in their daughter's death.
Angela Major and Ken Mason both entered pleas on information to reckless homicide and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection to the June shooting death of their 6-month-old daughter, Kelsey.
According to court documents, a witness in the house at the time of the shooting overheard the child's parents fighting over a handgun while the baby girl sat at their feet. The witness said she heard a struggle, then the gun went off, striking the father in the hand and hitting the baby girl in the head.
Major was sentenced to four years for the homicide and two year 2 for the gun possession charge that will run concurrently. In addition, she was on probation on other charges and that will be revoked, adding three more years to her sentence.
Mason received the same sentence, four years for the homicide and two for gun possession for a total of six years behind bars.
