The Blount County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident at Blount County High School after a 12-year-old girl told officers a man tried to grab her.
According the the Sheriff James Berrong, the girl said the assault happened Tuesday night just before 8 P.M.
The assault reportedly happened while she was in the stairwell of the gymnasium during a volleyball tournament held at the school. She told officers the man tried to grab her and take her down the stairs.
She said she then punched the man in the nose, and he ran out of the school and into the passenger side of a black sedan.
The suspect is described as a white man in his mid-30s, between 5'8 and 5'10 with an average build. He has short, brown hair and was wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.
