(WBIR - Blount County) A woman was killed and several others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S 411 South in Blount County Saturday night according to the Blount County Sheriff's Office.
BCSO responded to the accident at 6:45 PM at U.S. 411 near Ridgeway Trail/U.S. 129.
The sheriff's office said Amanda Campbell, 29, was heading south when a tire on her SUV went flat. She stopped the vehicle in the fast lane and stepped out to flag down another car for help.
A Dodge pickup truck was also going southbound in the fast lane when an unknown vehicle in front of it quickly swerved out of the way to avoid Campbell. The truck then hit Campbell, pinning her between the two vehicles.
Authorities pronounced her dead at the scene.
A 15-year-old girl, a 10-year-old girl and a 21-months-old boy, were in the car with Campbell when the accident happened.
All three children were taken to the Blount Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle also suffered injuries and was taken to UT Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition.
The crash forced southbound traffic to be temporarily diverted down Ridgeway Trail.
