(WBIR) Wednesday marks the second of four days this school year that most Blount County school buses won't be running for students.

The district chose to shut down its bus service for a handful of days because of budget cuts for the 2013-14 academic year.

The school system announced back in October that the county's 73 buses won't run Wednesday, but the school will be officially open.

Dates buses won't run:

  • Friday, Oct. 4
  • Wednesday, Dec. 18
  • Friday, March 14
  • Tuesday, May 2

Blount County Schools said it selected those four days to cut because they precede county-wide holidays. Students begin Christmas Break on Thursday.
