(WBIR) Atmos Energy said an increased demand for natural gas has caused low pressure for some Maryville customers, which can make homes feel cold.

Atmos said it has plenty of natural gas, and as the temperatures rises today the pressure will improve. The company said employees are monitoring equipment that delivers gas where low pressure issues have been reported.

Atmos has asked customers to conserve energy and reduce natural gas consumption by:

  • Lowering the thermostat
  • Using extra blankets or sweaters to keep warm
  • Limiting the use of non-essential gas applications like fireplaces, spas, and use of heated water
  • People shouldn't also use propane heaters, ovens or stoves to heat homes
