Several Blount County jailers were checked out at the hospital Thursday morning after a suspicious letter arrived at the jail.

Firefighters were called to the Blount County Justice Center after a suspicious letter contained a white powder.

The three employees were decontaminated as a precaution and taken to the hospital where they were treated and released. The powder is being tested.

The sheriff says a new policy at the jail only allowing postcards should help keep this from happening again.
