(WBIR) Blount County deputies arrested three people allegedly connected to a mushroom growing ring.

The sheriff's department served two search warrants in the Springbrook community in Alcoa on Friday.

During the bust, officials arrested and charged Michael Spencer, Charity Powell and Waltenna Selby for growing and selling a controlled substance in a drug-free zone.

The search turned up several mushroom colonies and canning jars for additional spores.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending for other suspects.
