A former Blount County mayor will be laid to rest this week.
Beverley Pierce Woodruff, 60, of Maryville, died March 8 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Woodruff was elected as county executive in 2002, which was later changed to county mayor. She left office on medical leave in 2005.
Her funeral is set for noon on March 11 at McCammon-Ammons Click Funeral Home at 220 W. Broadway Ave. in Maryville. Her family will receive friends after the funeral.
Instead of flowers her family has asked for donations to the Blount County Schools Elementary Text Book Fund, 831 Grandview Dr., Maryville, TN 37803 or the Blount Memorial Hospice Mercy Fund, c/o BMH Foundation, 907 East Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Maryville, TN 37804.
