(WBIR) Most soon to be 12-year-old boys want a game or toy for their birthday, but not one local boy. He's asking for cases of bottled water.
Nicholas Bryant is a 5th grader at Townsend Elementary who turns 12 on June 29. He's asking for bottled water donations instead of regular gifts.
Nicholas began his water collection last year after helping his church feed the homeless and learning on the radio that people also need bottled water. So, that's what he asked for from friends and relatives.
"Just so that homeless can have something to drink on a hot summer day," Nicholas said.
He collected 55 cases, the most ever donated at one time. He's hoping to double that donation this year by hitting his goal of 110 cases, just so they can have some relief when it gets warm.
