(WBIR) Some Maryville College students concocted a smart and fun way to raise money to take a trip out west.

There was food, inflatables and dunk the professor. But they also blinded them with science with things like catapulting things through plant cells and having dry-ice ice cream.

The students hope to raise enough money to attend a American Chemical Societymeeting, but also show folks that science can really be fun.

"Science is in our every world," said Maryville College student Ravyn Thompson. "You see science everywhere so just showing people that science just isn't sitting int he lab that it is open for anybody to be part of."

The students hope to be able to use the money to take a trip to San Francisco and present their research at the national ACM meeting in August.
