Months after fire destroyed a Townsend lodge, the owners say they will not rebuild.

The fire in November destroyed the Dancing Bear Lodge and Restaurant's main lodge and restaurant.

The owners wanted to rebuild, but now say that's no longer an option. They turned over management of their cabin rental business to Dogwood Cabins, and listed the property for sale.

"After much consideration and due diligence, we have decided not to rebuild the lodge and restaurant," said Matt Alexander, Managing Partner of Dancing Bear Lodge & Restaurant. "Management of the property has been transitioned to Dogwood Cabins. We appreciate all our past guests patronage, and the local community for their outpouring of support and are grateful to have been a member of the Townsend business community for ten years."

Reservations already made will be honored. If guests have questions about a reservation, they can contact Dogwood Cabins at 865-448-9054 or visit the website at www.dogwoodcabins.com.
