One person was seriously injured when a roof he was working on collapsed.

The accident happened at approximately 4:15 pm Thursday at a home under construction on Griffitts Mill Circle in south Blount County.

Investigators said four workers were on the roof when it started collapsing. Three of them jumped off. One, Jose Diaz, 27, suffered a broken ankle and was taken to a local hospital. The other two received minor injuries but refused being taken to the hospital.

The fourth man, Ranferi Delgado, 28, of Alcoa, fell about 15 feet into the hole dug for the basement beneath the home's porch. He was transported to UT Medical Center by Lifestar. We have no word on his condition.

Investigators have not determined what caused the roof to collapse.
