(WBIR) A man serving time in federal prison for faking military service to receive veterans' benefits has pleaded guilty to murdering his wife's former husband.
Robert J. McClancey was found dead in his recliner with a gun in one hand and a bottle of pills in the other, but he hadn't been shot. They say Kaczmarczyk confessed that he and McClancey's wife caused McClancey to overdose on prescription medication then staged the scene to make it appear to be a suicide.
McClancey's wife is now Ann Kaczmarczyk and married to Charles Kaczmarczyk. Both are serving time for faking military records so they could receive military benefits they do not qualify for.
McClancy was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
The 10th Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI investigate the homicide and provided an investigator who worked the case with a TBI agent. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General and Social Security Administration OIG were instrumental in providing the evidence and information needed to investigate the homicide which led to the guilty plea.
