A woman convicted of facilitating the murder of the Monroe County election commissioner in 2010 is waiting to hear whether she'll be granted a retrial.
A jury convicted Jessica Kennedy on several charges, including facilitation of first degree murder in August 2012 for the 2010 death of election commissioner Jim Miller. Miller's body was found shot in the trunk of his burning car in July 2010.
A local judge denied Kennedy's request for a new trial in January. During the same month, her attorneys filed for an appeal with the Tennessee Court of Appeals. The court heard her appeal last week, and she's now waiting for its decision.
Kennedy is currently serving a nearly 29-year sentence.
