(WBIR) Officials arrested a man accused of stabbing and killing a man in Monroe County Saturday night.

Monroe County deputies said they found Claude H. Torbett, 45, suffering from a stab wound in the area near Lick Creek and Gamble Gap roads in Tellico Plains just before 6 p.m. on Saturday. Authorities determined the stabbing happened in a home in the 400 block of Gamble Gap Road.

Crews took Torbett to the hospital, but officials weren't able to revive him.

After interviewing a witness, deputies arrested William "Fud" Winkler Jr. on Saturday. Authorities said Winkler knew the victim.

Winkler has been charged with second degree murder and is currently booked in the Monroe County Jail.
