A Monroe County constable now faces charges of illegally selling prescription drugs.
According to the Monroe Co. Sheriff's Department, the investigation into Tommy Joe Jones, Sr. began in early January. He was arrested in Madisonville on Wednesday after being charged with 8 counts of Sale and Delivery of Schedule III narcotic, official misconduct, Possession of Firearm During a Dangerous Felony, and Possession of Radio /Intercepting Police Frequency during offenses.
Constable is an elected position in Monroe County. It gave Jones the authority to carry a gun and a badge.
He was booked into the Monroe County Jail under a $25,000 dollar bond.
