There was a hero's welcome Monday night for a soldier in Mossy Grove.

Wesley Scott Carroll served three and a half years in the Army. Monday he returned home to a crowd of family and friends lining the streets eager to welcome him.

Carroll spent time in Missouri, Oklahoma and Washington as well as a deployment to Afghanistan. He says nothing compares to seeing his family and friends again.

"It's pretty emotional, knowing the county cares so much after being gone three long years that they still have the respect for the soldiers fighting after 12 long years. It's nice know that there's a lot of people that don't support the war, but it's nice knowing they still support the people fighting it," said Carroll.

Now that he's home, Carroll is looking forward to spending quality time with his family and preparing to have a baby girl. A family friend says Carroll has also expressed interest in becoming a police officer.
