Knoxville police confirmed a woman reported that she was kidnapped, assaulted and raped by her boyfriend in north Knoxville Monday morning.
A man is facing rape, assault, and kidnapping charges after he allegedly held his girlfriend at gunpoint and threatened to kill her repeatedly in northwest Knoxville Monday morning.
The victim told police Arthur T. Copeland, 39, of Knoxville raped her while holding a gun to her head at an apartment in the 2200 block of Ridgebrook Lane. Police found and arrested him just before midnight Thursday.
Copeland is being held in the Knox County Detention Facility on a $1 million bond. Crews drove the victim a local hospital for treatment.
Copeland is facing two counts of aggravated rape, one count of aggravated assault, one count of especially aggravated kidnapping.
According to a Knoxville Police Department release, Copeland has a lengthy wrap sheet, which includes a second degree murder conviction and multiple robbery charges and convictions.
