(WBIR-North Knoxville) Drivers and bicyclists in North Knoxville will notice some new signs along the roadway.
The city added 72 new signs to map out a 7.4 mile route from downtown through north Knoxville. The route runs up Gay Street, through Emory Place, to the 4th and Gill neighborhood, up Hall of Fame Drive, and up to Fairmont Boulevard. Those signs read "To North Knox."
The route connects several neighborhood streets to Fairmont Boulevard and heads east to Cross Valley Road, Valley View Drive, and Washington Pike. Those signs read "To Harvest Park." The full route includes several hills and could take the average cyclist about 45 minutes to complete.
The city has mapped out routes in west and south Knoxville and plans to add one in the future through East Knoxville, which will connect to Chilhowee Park and the Knoxville Zoo.
