Dozens of business and community leaders spent much of their day back in the classroom..or in the principal's office.

Knox County Schools hosted its "Principal for a Day" program on Thursday.

Nearly 80 local leaders participated, including Knox County Sheriff JJ Jones, who played principal at Central High School.

When Jones or his deputies are normally called to a school, it's to deal with a disciplinary problem. He says it's nice to see the other side.

"It's good to see the good, and to know that these kids are going to have an opportunity in life to make something out of themselves and not end up in one of my facilities," said Sheriff Jones.

The principals of the day spent time meeting with school administrators, visiting classroom and interacting with staff.
