Update Monday 12:47 p.m.

(WBIR) Knoxville police said a man was shot more than once as he was getting out of his pickup truck Saturday evening in east Knoxville.

A KPD release reports that someone shot and killed Jack Hutchins Jr., 52, of Knoxville when he arrived home after picking up dinner for his family. The shooting happened in front of a house on the 1700 block of Woodbine Avenue at about 8:40 p.m.

Rural Metro drove Hutchins to UT Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are following up on a couple leads, but they still need help from the community.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting of any suspicious activity near Woodbine Avenue is asked to call KPD at 865-215-7212. Callers can remain anonymous.

KPD said officers responded to a shooting call in the 1700 block of Woodbine Avenue around 8:40 p.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, KPD said officers found a man who had been shot. Rural Metro took the man to UT Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

As of 11 p.m. Saturday, KPD said its Violent Crimes and its Forensics Unit were still working on processing the scene and following up on leads.
