After months of hard work, students at Powell High School celebrated the grand re-opening of some unique classroom space.
They cut the ribbon at the entrance to their outdoor classroom on Friday.
The Environmental Club has been working since the fall to clean up what had become an overgrown mess.
Their teacher got a $3000 grant to buy plants, build a shed and buy stones for the walkways but the planning and the manual labor was the work of the students.
Most of the students working on the project will be back next school year to enjoy it.
" A lot of time kids are just tired of sitting in a desk inside a room all day. The outdoor classroom is a really good way to get outside in nature and breathe in some fresh air. It's just a change of pace and this is a great space to do that in," said teacher Mary Eisenhauer.
