There's a new place for kids to try out a new sport in Knoxville.
On Monday, the City of Knoxville opened a new youth disc golf course at Inskip Park, which is located at 4204 Bruhin Road.
The course was designed with kids between the ages of 8 and 12 in mind, but it is open to people of all ages and skill levels.
The Knoxville Disc Golf Association asked the Parks and Recreation Department to provide a course geared towards younger players.
"When the Knoxville Disc Golf Association approached the City about this project, we saw it as an opportunity to both enhance Inskip Park and to offer a new sport that might appeal to youth who are less interested in traditional sports," said Joe Walsh, the City's Director of Parks and Recreation.
The course includes nine baskets with two tee pads per basket, giving various skill level options and doubling the course length.
The total cost of the project was about $17,000. The course is free to use and open to the public during regular park hours.
