Anderson County's sheriff and mayor have agreed to settle a lawsuit over jail staffing.
Sheriff Paul White sued Mayor Terry Frank in a dispute over salaries and staffing at the new jail.
After months of negotiation, the two reached an agreement outside of court this week. It will allow the sheriff to hire 15 full-time permanent deputies, and some temporary deputies, within the budget approved by the county commission for the current fiscal year.
Both parties acknowledged that they discussed similar arrangements in July and September, but didn't settle at those times due to legal issues and conflicting advice.
The sheriff's office will pay for court fees related to the lawsuit.
