(WBIR) LifeStar flew a pedestrian to UT Medical Center after a vehicle hit the victim in Anderson County, according to dispatchers.

Derek Jones, 23, was jogging along Old Batley Road in Oliver Springs at around 6:45 p.m. Monday evening when he says a small black car struck him, sending his head and the right side of his body colliding against the windshield.

The car drove off and Jones called his mother, Renda Gunter, for help. Gunter is asking the driver to come forward. Her son avoided any broken bones or permanent damage, but injuries to his head and leg will keep him from working, says Gunter.

"He needs help paying the medical bills. He would have loved to have had them stop and say 'oh my goodness, are you ok? I'm very sorry,'" said Gunter. "Derek is a good person."

THP is investigating the crash.
