Investigators are working to determine the origin of a human skill that was found Tuesday in the Claxton community of Anderson County.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff's Department, a resident of Norman Rd. reported finding the skull to police. It was apparently carried there by an animal.
The sheriff's department called in the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Regional Forensic Center to assist in the investigation.
The area was fully searched by cadaver dogs from the Roane County Sheriff's office, but nothing else was found.
The skull was taken to the forensics center to determine the age, sex, and race of the person. In addition, they will work to determine how long the skull has been exposed to the elements.
