Tanger Outlets hosted a special ceremony Wednesday morning to donate nearly $40,000 to the American Cancer Society.
That money came from a drive earlier this year. For six weeks this fall, Tanger gave shoppers got a discount for the opportunity to donate to the fight against cancer by purchasing a "Pink Card".
The drive is an annual event, but Tanger leadership says it's their honor to help out any way they can.
"There are so many people affected by this horrible disease. A lot of people and their family members, even themselves are touched. We're just pleased and excited to be a part of this wonderful, wonderful cause," said Angela Harness, general manager of Tanger Outlets.
Since starting its Pink Card Drive in 1994, Tanger has donated more than $13.5 million to fight breast cancer.
