On Thursday, friends, family, and a community will begin saying their goodbyes to the Scott County Sheriff.
Sheriff Mike Cross died Sunday after battling cancer. He was 56 years old.
Thursday evening, his family will receive friends at the White Rock Baptist church in Huntsville. The visitation lasts from 4 pm until 9 pm. The funeral will be at the church Friday afternoon starting at 2 o'clock. His burial at Fairview Memorial Gardens will follow.
The Scott County school system and Oneida school district will dismiss classes early for Cross' funeral on Friday. The county's government offices will also be closed.
Flags have been at half staff to honor Sheriff Cross.
Many say they will remember Cross for making a difference and making Scott County a better place.
