A house in Seymour is a total loss after a devastating fire Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 4 p.m., Seymour Fire Department responded to a house fire call on Staghorn Lane in Seymour. Upon arrival they called for assistance from Sevier County and Waldens Creek Fire Department.

The house's location in the woods with a windy driveway made it difficult to fight the fire. Crews had to run hoses up the hill and carry equipment by hand.

Only one person was home at the time and they escaped safely. Nobody was injured.
