A Sevier County man is facing domestic assault charges after threatening his wife with a shotgun in her face.

The incident happened in Seymour off Chapman Highway Sunday night. Police say Phillip McWilliams pushed his wife down after a fight and pointed his gun at her. He fired the weapon and shot out the glass back door.

McWilliams' wife hid until authorities could arrive. When they did, she ran out the apartment to safety.

Sevier County deputies eventually went into the apartment, disarmed McWilliams, and arrested him. He faces charges for reckless endangerment and aggravated domestic assault, and more charges are pending.

Deputies also found several other firearms inside the house including two assault rifles.
