If you are heading to Gatlinburg or the Smokies next week, be prepared to deal with some possible traffic delays.
The Sevier Conty Electric System is planning to do utility work on the northbound side of the Spur, starting Monday and finishing up on Thursday. One northbound lane will closed for approximately one mile from the Gatlinburg city boundary to Legion Bridge.
Workers will be accessing utility boxes to perform needed maintenance to the underground power lines in the shoulder of the Spur. The lane closure is necessary due to the narrowness of the shoulder throughout that area along the Spur.
The utility got permission from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for the work.
