Attorneys reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed by the family of a teenage boy raped by an employee at a Krystal restaurant in Pigeon Forge.
Matthew Roberts pleaded guilty to rape by coercion after the November 2011 crime. Authorities said Roberts, who was a convicted sex offender, raped a 16-year-old boy inside a bathroom at the restaurant.
The boy's family sued Roberts and the Krystal franchise for $10 million.
This week, attorneys settled for $2.39 million after claiming the company had negligently hired, retained and supervised Roberts. The deal came the day before the lawsuit was set to go to trial.
They also reached an agreement with the Krystal Corporation for an undisclosed amount earlier this year.
