Five passengers were taken to the hospital Friday after a school bus carrying Knoxville Catholic students drove off the road and into a creek.

It happened just before 6:00 p.m. off Glades Road on the east side of Gatlinburg in Sevier County, according to dispatchers.

THP officials said they believed all injuries were minor. The students were taken to LeConte Medical Center, four by ambulance and one by car.

Officers say the right tire of the bus exited the road and the ground gave way, sending the bus down an embankment.

The Fighting Irish basketball game has been postponed.
