More than 700 firefighters from across the southeast are in East Tennessee this weekend to learn how to perfect their craft.
They're attending the 16th annual Smoky Mountain Weekend Fire Rescue Expo at the Leconte Center in Pigeon Forge. More than 50 vendors are teaching them the latest fire fighting techniques and showing them newest technology.
One local fire chief says the lessons learned this weekend will pay off when they go home.
"They're gonna be taking back all this important training to their communities and making their communities safer, and being able to serve their communities better," said Tony Watson with the Pigeon Forge Fire Department.
The event is also free to the public if you would like to learn about firefighting. It runs through Sunday at the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge.
