(WBIR) A former Gatlinburg pastor accused of stealing from his congregation appeared in court Tuesday.
A judge arraigned Ronald Lukat on two different counts of theft of property.
Lukat is the former pastor of Gatlinburg Presbyterian Church. The church's day care was forced to shut down in February 2013. A police report showed that Lukat admitted to officers that he failed to pay state or federal taxes on the day care.
The church said at the time those expenses added up to more than $40,000.
