The James White Parkway Expansion is officially dead.

The Transportation Planning Organization executive board voted Wednesday morning to take the extension off the table for good. It confirms a vote in August that essentially killed the possibility of the road work.

Only Sevier County Mayor Larry Waters, Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, and Knox County Commission Chairman Brad Anders voted to keep discussing the expansion.

The proposal would have extended James White Parkway through Knoxville's Urban Wilderness to Governor John Sevier Highway and reduced congestion on Chapman Highway.
