(WBIR-Knoxville) For the first time since the April raid of Pilot Flying J headquarters in West Knoxville, Jim Haslam is revealing how he found out about the FBI seizure, and the future of the company.
"We heard something was going on, but couldn't get details. I called Jimmy and he didn't answer his phone," Haslam said in a 10-question statement on the company's website Thursday. According to the website dedicated to the April 15th raid, rebateeducation.pilotflyingj.com, Haslam said he was biking in Hilton Head, SC when the federal agent entered the headquarters.
"My thoughts were: what happened, why did it happen and how do we get the company back together? It was the second worst day of my life," Haslam said, regarding the worst day was when his wife passed away.
